Your lawn care insurance quote checklist
Organize your services, equipment, crew and contract details before checking insurance options for your lawn care business.
Lawn Care Policy · Updated
Educational information, not a coverage determination. Examples are hypothetical. Policy wording, exclusions and underwriting decide whether coverage applies.
Start with the work you actually do
A mowing route, a landscape installation and a winter plowing contract are different operations. Describe your full service mix rather than relying on the label ‘landscaping’. A short preparation sheet can help you avoid leaving out seasonal or occasional work.
- List mowing, edging, pruning, planting and cleanup services.
- Note chemical application, tree work, hardscape, irrigation and snow removal separately.
- Identify residential and commercial customers and the states where you work.
- Record your business name, address, years in operation and estimated revenue.
Prepare an equipment and vehicle inventory
Keep equipment details together so you can explain what you own or lease, where it is kept and how it moves between jobs. Ask the agent which documents are needed before sending sensitive records.
- List mowers, trimmers, blowers, sprayers and other major tools with approximate values.
- Note storage at home, in a shop, in a trailer or at a job site.
- List trucks and trailers, ownership arrangements and who drives them.
- Ask how theft, transport and equipment used away from storage would be reviewed.
Bring staffing and contract questions
Prepare a headcount and job descriptions for owners, employees, seasonal helpers and subcontractors. Bring the insurance section of a client contract rather than guessing what the client needs. Workers’ compensation and vehicle insurance are separate topics to raise alongside general liability; requirements and coverage depend on the business and applicable rules.
- Estimate payroll and describe each person's work.
- List subcontracted tasks and the documents you already hold.
- Collect client requests for limits, certificates and additional-insured status.
- Identify the requested start date and any existing policy or renewal date.
Turn your notes into a useful review
For each open question, record the document needed, the person answering and the next step. Do not put customer information or policy credentials in public comments or web addresses. This checklist prepares a conversation; it does not determine eligibility or establish coverage.
Use the form below to start with your business details. An eligible operation may continue to an express quote on Kinro. Others can receive help from a licensed Kinro agent.
